Hello All,
I'm a new member just starting into this arena. For a few years now, I've had a box of pipes and accessories that belonged to my Grandpa. I always get sentimental and have fond memories every time I smell Captain Black.
I pulled this pipe out the box and was immediately drawn to it. By shape, color, feel, heft; it just felt like a natural fit. However, I haven't really been successful in determining the exact Model, Style or Age. About the only thing that I THINK I've determined is that it might be an American made Britain’s Best Briars, possibly a second hand model? The only other distinguishing mark is the number 57 stamped on the opposite side. (Please see attached photos.) Also, upon disassembly, there was a piece of paper wrapped around the threaded bulb. I can only assume that it acted as a filter of some sort? (If so, are such papers still available? Brands/Sizes/Retailers?)
This pipe is sentimental to me and I'd like to bring it back to life in honor and memory of my Grandpa. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
