Hey from central North Carolina. I enjoyed a trip to Richmond a long time ago, during one of the heydays of the Jefferson Hotel, stayed there and had a nice brunch. I don't know if it is still as elegant. I know it's gone through various phases in its long life. We also enjoyed the Poe house, where they were in energetic defense of the author and his reputation. I also liked the way the city turns to country without a lot of sprawl ... if that's still true. Welcome aboard.

Thanks, The Jefferson is still grand and the Poe House is still being maintained. What part of NC? I lived in High Point in the 70s and still spend a lot of time down at Kerr Lake. I think about moving down all the time.

Welcome Paul. Retirement must be treating you well as that is a nice selection of pipes. I just started buying a couple of Dunhills birth year pipe for me, my wife, and my Grandson. It's great to be retired and be able to enjoy a hobby like piping that allows you to slow down and reflect on things. I am still working, but learning to slow down and enjoy life rather than race towards the next goal.

Hello Wisconsin…….
Also a beautiful place with great people. Yes, Im up to about 60 pipes now of various makes. Funny , I have an Ashton Canadian on the way from a guy in Wisconsin as we speak. Retirement is different, only 4 months into it after a 30 year Government Career. I suffered a stroke 90 days before retiring and turning 50. I got it all back to normal without any obvious effects but it was touch and go at first. 30 yrs of cigarettes, scotch and a high stress job did it. My advice to anyone is if it’s stressful get away from it and stop the cigarettes. Pipes are safer also cigars and like you said it allows you to slow down which is sound advice.
