There was an earlier post about Morta pipes so I decided to investigate a little. Once I saw how beautiful they are, I thought I'd add one to my collection some day if the opportunity presented itself. Then once I researched it, I knew I REALLY wanted one. There is something about knowing a piece of wood has been in some bog underwater for thousands of years and someone made it into a piece of art. I was told that Davorin doesn't really sell directly to people but I reached out and introduced myself anyway. Turns out he was able to get me one. EXTREMELY pleasant fellow. The pipe is beautiful to me and even came with a Morta Tamper and a signed letter of Authenticity with my name on it! Very cool purchase for me.

That piece is a-MA-zing! Very modern lines, yet still organic. You have a helluva score, friend. o)
Have to ask: show piece or smoker? That might be the first piece i have ever seen that i could just stare at and be happy.

Very cool. The white insert breaks up all the darkness between the pipe and stem very nicely.

wow JavaJ - that is an excellent questions. I have never bought a pipe that I wouldn't smoke but if there is one, it would be this one. Its very special due to my interaction with Mr. Davorin in Croatia. I think Old Cajun has a few and said they burn a little hot so I am super curious. :) Time will tell, definitely not going to smoke it for a while.

It's an unusual shape but it works beautifully.
I think the pics make it look like the bowl bends up towards the smoker but when its in my mouth, the bowl lid is horizontal flat. Man I love this pipe....

That is really cool; the lines just pop... Great score and it goes to show you can never know if you don't ask. Congratulations and happy smoking.

So Roth, what does Cumberland mean? I know we have acrylic, vulcanite stems. How does cumberland fit in. Yes, you are right, Dav said that these pipes are particularly good with English blends, though I am not sure why just yet.

That is a nice looking pipe for sure. I'm not a fan of the canted rim but it does look nice. The cumberland stem is a nice touch too.
Cumberland - Madder-red Ebonite swirled with darker to produce a unique faux wood.

Z- that is a beauty. If this isn't too personal I would like to know how you contacted him, how long it took, and what it cost? I think that pipe would be worth the wait and can't wait to hear how she smokes, that is if you smoke out of it.

Don't know the brand, but that is one beautiful looking pipe. I love the combo of smooth and ribbing. The stem is gorgeous too.
Enjoy
