New Castellos

Howdy folks. PAD is alive and well. I eyeballed this first one for a week or so before going for it - this is quickly becoming my favorite Castello. It fits perfectly and smokes like a monster.

Then I let my fingers do some walking, and to be perfectly honest they probably weren't doing so in the straightest line when I tossed what I considered a modest bid at this just to see what would happen, and it's on the way as well:

I have loved Castello pipes for a good while now, and getting a more strictly traditional shape from them inspired me to hunt for some more. The Castello row on my three tier Decatur rack is one slot from being full up, but it might take a touch longer to find that perfect pipe to fill it. That OA is going to be hard to beat, and while the liverpool is not yet it hand, it's looking promising.

I'm not always a fan of that fume finish, but it works on that pipe. Old Antiquari?

I'm not so great at taking pipe photos (I'd rather be smoking them) but at some point perhaps I'll find the time. I think I shared photos I had on hand in the show off your Castellos thread.

fish, I love my Castellos, but truth be told, I am not a fan of many of the Old Antiquaris that I see. I just find some of the blasts are not very well defined. However, occasionally I see some with a really beautiful blast that really shows off the ring grain. Your first pipe is one of those.

Beautiful balance on that Canadian. It's a shape that, when done well, is downright stately.

Congrats on the new pipes, the blast on that first one is very nice. You simply cannot go wrong with a Castello, and they have quickly risen to the top of my favorite pipes. Enjoy and happy puffing!
