Hi everyone, I need some help identifying my Barlings pipe. I have been to alot of sites and I just need some details to identify the manufacturer date and the wood used.
I checked out http://pipedia.org/wiki/Barling - Its states
Many Barling pipes made prior to 1909 lack any company markings except for the name of the shop that sold them. The only stamp that tells us that the pipe is a Barling is the sterling makers mark “EB” over “WB”. It is common to find only a small "BARLING’S MAKE" stamped in block capital letters, with an arched BARLING’S over MAKE. Many of the older pipes feature sterling silver fitments, which make dating a simple mater of looking up London hallmarks, and the "EB WB" makers’ mark.
SO, It has small "BARLING’S MAKE" stamped in block capital letters - My pipe has EB over WB and 3 hallmarks - a capital "R" the english lion and the London town leopard head.
I also found the london hallmarks sheet - http://www.pipephil.eu/logos/images-infos/hallmarks/hall-london.jpg
I think its a 1952 "R" But is missing the "queen" looking halmark. (On sheet 3rd row, 4 positions up)
I am so confused !! It looks to be a 1952 model
Some more feedback for a beginner into pipes would be much appreciated.

The best thing to do is to post some clear pictures, or a link to same. There are some very knowledgeable members who can help you.

The 4 digit model number that begins with the numeral "1" indicates that it was made for the European market. Often, but not always, Barling pipes have a size stamp which may be SS thru EXEXEL. They may also have a "MADE IN ENGLAND" stamp, though many of the pipes created for the English market lack this stamp. Barling was not consistent with their stamping. Without images, I can't tell you more than that.
