OK... so the money I had saved for some tobacco was spent, as some of you might remember, on my daughters Xmas present (her rat)... of which I have no regrets.

Anyways over the weekend I received a $50 visa gift card from my father in law as a Xmas gift (we hadn't seen him for Xmas yet)... so I immediately ran out (yes all giddy as a school girl) to the local B&M and picked up two tins of Nightcap (I was dangerously low, had only half a tin left... yikes!) because that was a definite need!

So now I have $30 but can probably squeeze out a twenty to make it $50 again (yay)... so now after that long essay my question is this:

Should I spend the $50 on more Tobacco or a half way decent estate pipe?
For the tobacco, I dont have allot but its much better than it was just six months ago... probably 2-3 pounds (maaaybe!)

For the pipes, I currently have 14 (healthy ones)that are in my rotation.
Also for the Tobacco I would probably go through P&C to load up on some bulk Black House (I only have one sealed tin and maybe half an ounce bulk left) and maybe some Larry's blend and maybe whatever else I might find
For the pipe I am currently eying a Mauro Arrmellini Pipe on the bay as well as THIS and THIS
Of course Im always open to any other suggestions (obviously since im posting the question  )
Thanks in advance guys. :puffy:

Since bacci pipes in order, I would go with the TAD ;-)
Great choices from P&C brother, dot forget to try some others

if you like the more "stout" blends like NYPC's Jack's Shanty or SPC's

Plum pudding just great blends...also over at LJ Peretti's the Royal and Omega blends are

great as well

Well, I have a Stanwell very similar and have to tell you it smokes like a dream and is very light. Both pipes if purchased for the right price would certainly give you enough left over for a pouch or three of tobacco. Your rotation is a good size and I usually always err on the side of tobacco because the price is never going down in our life time. However buying a pipe is something you can always sell later and will retain its value. I would get a combination!

I think very highly of Stanwells, and that's a nice one; and the Kaywoodie looks really good too - but the Mauro Arrmellini Pipe is gorgeous. Tough choices. Good luck deciding!

My view is..Don't buy a pipe just to buy one.If you see one though that you really like a lot at a good price and you have the money go for it..Otherwise tobacco is the choice.

Well, I may be a little prejudiced here but...

I'd probably do the Tobacco as well. 14 good smokers seems like solid rotation, and you could get close to 2 pounds of baccy depending on what you order. I've only had a few orders in my career but I get a bigger sense of satisfaction when I stow away some bags of tobacco than putting another pipe on the rack.
That being said, I'm going to snipe your auctions so you're forced make the right call.

With how slowly I go through tobacco, I'd probably go for one of the pipes. If you go through tobacco more quickly though, I'd go for a variety from Smokingpipes.com because they have free shipping on orders over $50 and you might be able to come up with another couple bucks to save on shipping. That shipping cost can be the price of another tin or more.

Well it seems as though most of you are making quite the case for the tobacco.... Well it does make sense to stock up on tobacco until I get back on track financially, then I can concentrate on some decent pipes.

But I really do like that little Kaywoodie, might have to keep an eye on that, regardless.
Well it seems as though I'm about to stock up again on the black house ... Yay :D
Thanks everyone, appreciate all the responses and it's always nice to see everyone's opinions.

I was going to say tobacco, but since you have already decided, buy the damn pipe. :nana:
Seriously, with a rotation of 14, I would be going balls to the wall on tobacco for a while. You should figure out how much you will need to last your lifetime. If you smoke 3 grams per bowl multiply times how many bowls a day times 365. Then divide by 454( grams to a pound) and then you will have how many pounds a year you smoke. Then multiple times how many you plan on living and keep buying till you have enough. Prices will be insane soon, I can see bulk pounds that are 30 bucks now going for over 100 soon.
