Hi there im from New Zealand and iv just got myself a briar pipe and was wondering where people are buying tobacco from.
Im aware you can buy 50g tins for $159 but id rather not do that at any rate. Im tempted to buy a couple tins from 4noggins but i cant find any posts about shipping to NZ in the last year or so.....id just like some advice on maybe what store or maybe some other method of buying my pipe tobacco without having to take out a small loan for a small tin, cheers.

Everything the US would ship you goes through NZ customs and you would have a substantial duty to pay for it. Afterall what would be the point of sky high taxes if people could just ship things and duck them.

Yea i understand there is duty but there must be a cheaper way. Maybe what i should be looking for is a private selling in NZ who would be able to legally mail me whatever amount and avoid tax

If you were to buy tobacco privately in NZ you would still be looking at $100+ per tin, unless you find something at a second hand shop etc.

I’d recommend you look through the forums for threads where people talk about getting tobacco into Australia and Canada. Do some thorough reading of the import laws and see which retailers use a freight company for shipping.

but honestly, if you grow your own burleys and then buy a tin or two here and there, a good hour smoking is still cheaper than a pint.

My first suggestion is just choose a new hobby without so many hurdles, but if you are determined to give it a crack, growing your own is actually really satisfying, and not too much work. Seeds are easily available before spring.
