I have a B10 version but mine didn't come with a silver spigot second stem it was just a regular black plastic one, I did get Peterson to make me a second champagne colour silver spigot 9mm stem because I smoke filtered pipes 90% of the time. The amber stem is beautiful to look at and it has a very warm sort of organic feel and I can see why it was a popular stem material back in the day, the shop I bought mine from (here in England) put a little note in the box about being very careful when handling the amber stem and not to clench etc. which fortunately I had no problem with as I'm not a clencher.
The only thing I am a bit wary of is using a pipe cleaner after smoking as it's a P-Lip and I found it a bit tricky and was worried about the button chipping so I use a thin falcon pipe cleaner on the silver end and go about 90% of the way stopping just short of the button and then I bend a fresh cleaner to fit the shape of the P-Lip and finish off the final 10% from the button end, it sounds tricky but once I got the knack it was no problem and I only use the amber stem every couple of weeks or so which reduces the chances of me accidently chipping or cracking it and it makes it feel a bit more of a 'special event' when I do use the amber stem as it's not a regular everyday occurrence. Luckily yours looks like a regular non P-Lip stem so it will probably be a cinch to clean but I would still always treat it with extra care as lots of the amber stems I've seen on vintage pipes on ebay are either chipped or cracked, saying all that I think if you treat it with a little respect and never ever clench then I don't see why it shouldn't stay pristine looking for years & years.
One little cool thing to do when you get it is if you have a little mag type torch then turn it on and shine it behind the amber stem and it really does show all the beautiful different shades & patterns and you can really see what an amazing organic material it is.
Mine came with a screw in tennon that is similar to what they have on the deluxe system Petersons but it's made of bone instead of metal, some came with the bone tennon and some didn't and from what I could gather it was a case of when they found the stems stashed away in the factory some had the bone tennons and some didn't, either way that is a smashing looking pipe and I hope you get as much enjoyment smoking it as I have mine.
Chris.
