What's the question exactly? Sommer is a French brand. I have one from the 20s or 30s and that one looks to be from around that time, maybe later. What's the button like -- slot or orific?
Have you seen the 1920s Sommer catalogue on the Pipe Atistory site? You might find this shape there.

Sommer

The brand was created by Jean Sommer in 1855 and produced in Paris, France. His sons continued the business producing meerschaum as well as briar pipes. The production stopped in 1935 but the brand's shop named "Aux carrieres d'ecume" (13 et 15 passage des princes, Paris) kept on with commercial activity until 1988. The logo on some is a gold sun with a white horizontal bar, or just a white bar alone on the side of the stem.

The Lower Forty of Hill Country
According to Jose Manuel Lopes in his book titled "Pipes - Artisans and Trademarks" Sommer is the, "former brand and name of French meerschaum and briar pipe artisan. The Sommer factory was created by Jean Sommer (1855-1891)- stamp: J. Sommer Paris - who was succeeded by his sons (the Freres Sommer Company, active between 1891 and 1936). It was later only a pipe shop - where Philippe Bargiel worked -, in the Passage des Princes, in Paris, and closed in the late 1980s. Usual stamp: "Sommer Paris"."
I hope that you find this information to be helpful.

Thanks so much for the info, fellow pipesters.
Someone came by my shop today who had this pipe and knew nothing about it, and I didn't either. So, I took some pics, uploaded them here, pressed enter, and said "Stand by, this shouldn't take long. These guys are good."
And Voila!
The 21st century is disappointing in many ways, but info-gathering sure isn't one of them. :D
