Just found a box in my mailbox. No return address, but chasingembers was printed on the corner so I knew it came from one of the forums I belong to. This was inside.

This is not a 904



This is not a 9004



This is a Savinelli 9005 from their Cadet line. Other than the one 914 I've seen, I've never heard of another number for the shape.

Yeah, that was amazing. I can’t even find a Dunhill in my birth year (I think I have only ever seen two, and they were sold). I am curious: Did the guy ask you what your birth year was, or was it just a wild coincidence?

I believe I posted my birth year in a thread about birth year pipes. My birth year is 1959 so I was extremely excited when I opened the box. My Secret Santa (still a secret) wrote a note stating "from one 59 baby to another" which I thought was pretty cool.

Yep. Those in the picture are 904s, and 9004s. Until the arrival of the 9005 I had thirty-two of them. The only other company I've seen with a similar shape was GBD's larger 9613.

Just figured out the difference. The big tell between a 9004 and a 904 is the much narrower stem in the 9004. The thing that separates the 9005 from its siblings is how tiny it is. Here it is with a 904.

Amazing and no surprise at all the way this forum goes.

Other than the savs and GBDs, I did see a Larsen on ebay once that was strikingly close to a 904. Never seen its like again.
