Woke up this morning at 5am and started the coffee pot, loaded up a bowl of FVF in my churchwarden for a nice relaxing porch chair smoke and coffee, and as soon as I step outside, I realize that it's way too damn cold to sit and get any enjoyment from my plan. -25 and heavy wind to boot.

So I have decided that as soon as it's comfortable enough to work outside, I'm building an 8x8 insulated smoking shack. I'm not letting Winter screw me over anymore!!! Put a little camp fuel heater in that bad boy and have a pipe and coffee in peace. Going to put an exhaust fan somewhere so I don't hotbox myself in there. Put a radio in there, maybe a couch and a little table.....hell I might just move into this shack! ??? Wife won't come looking for me if she has to get her parka on and brave the extreme cold. Best. Plan. Ever.

Gervais, I don't think you are too far away from me, and yes it is to cold to properly enjoy a pipe outside!

You should see some of the smoking rooms that members have posted here over the years. One member, Peck (who doesn't really post here anymore) built this incredible house for pipes. Hopefully someone has some pictures.

Maybe a nice 40 inch flat screen. And a small bathroom. Maybe a little hot plate and a coffee maker.

I think this project needs to be expanded. :)

Here's mine. Not as fancy as some, but it works for me. I converted our enclosed back porch into my own inclement weather smoking room. I want to replace the white cabinet and get a more comfortable seat. I enjoy sitting there with my buddies George, Abe, Thomas and Ben.

Gervais, now you got me thinking...when is the first live meeting of the pipesmagazine forum going to be held there? ? I’ll definitely attend.
Hmmm, might have to reconsider the 8x8 dimensions ? not that I'm afraid of a good huddle... Good call on the TV and coffee maker. It's happening

Can’t recommend it strongly enough. Here’s mine (10x16):

I’m hoping to convert an old log trapper cabin (built 1960) on our property into a bigger, better one this summer (its 16x24!!!) but needs new sill logs, a floor, a new roof, and some chinking repair.

@alaskanpiper omg is what came to mind when I saw that trappers cabin. With a lot of work (what do I know), that could be a jewel; it looks like it has great bones. I do envy you, living in natures backyard. I would think that one's perspective on life would be fundamentally different. The wilderness reminds us just what small creatures we are.
