My first pipe was described as a "10 minute" smoker. It meant I could get a fairly decent briar for a reasonable price because of its size. It's great for a break time smoke.
Also, I've read that, traditionally, English pipes are smaller than their US counterparts due to our Governments fondness for excessive tobacco duty! :)

Very nice Bradley. I have two small pipes, a 1910 meer (only good for a 15 min smoke) and a Stanwell (small, but can last a while).

The pipes pictured are the size of most of my pipes. I'm not a fan of big pipes because I am a clencher. Plus I find my mouth gets rather fatigued by 3/4 of the way through a large bowled pipe. I do still want a large pipe or 2 for latakia blends as I find they open up rather well in a large bowled pipe.

I personally prefer big ones which can be used for folded and stuffed flakes, but those small ones are good for short casual smoke.

Thanks for posting those pix.

It's always good to have coffee break pipes; and small pipes are ideal on trips to B&M's that allow sampling.
