I've been waiting for this packing from Ed for a few days after he told me he finished fixing up two of my pipes and said he'd thrown them in the mail. Well it got here this morning and I thought I'd show you guys the GREAT work he'd done.

He cleaned and tightened the tenon on my Group 4 Dunhill, cleaned, and completely refinished the Yello-Bole and I got a rest and tamper that he handmade. Suffice to say that I am overly excited by his work. I'm smoking the Dunhill right now and it smokes great. No gurgle, smokes cool, and has a great draw. Thanks Ed!

Ed, I smoked the Dunhill and it gave this slightly nutty taste to the VA I smoked in it (I made sure to smoke a cool-burning VA and smoke it easy). It was a great smoke. I'm smoking McClelland's Red Cake #5100 out of the YB right now and it smokes great! The thick walls on it are really helping it smoke cool. I'll see if I can find a before picture of the YB to show you just how much work Ed had to do to this baby.

Tbradsim, I was looking for a Dunhill a couple of months ago when I stumbled on a thread where you were suggesting for someone to look at Ferndowns, Ardors, and Astons. I followed your advice and I've been paying an a beautiful Ashton for 2 months. Finally paid for her and she's on the way from Canada. I'm glad I followed your advice. I'm getting an LX Ashton for right at $300. I'm sure she smokes like a dream.

I don't think it was the PA. I've had PA ghost something a slight bit and it always gives a slightly off taste. This perfectly went with the VA I was smoking. By the way, check out this Ebay listing I saw. http://www.ebay.com/itm/120983653199?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648

That pipe has generated a little buzz over at the DGCF. I believe it is a WW2 era pipe and is made from Mt.Laurel or manzanita. If you look closely at it you can see that the grain is actually "painted" on. The Mt.Laurel/Rohodendron and manzanita pipes do have have very good grain. I have collected several of these pipes as well as other WW2 non-briar pipes made by other companies.
