I decided to pickup a bunch of the old OTC's, so far I've purchased CBR, Carter Hall, Walnut, SWR Aromatic and now I've just picked up some CBW, SWR (original), Half & Half as well as some MacBaren Vanilla Cream Flake. I also picked up two mini MM Cobs and a MM Hardwood Ozark. I didn't realize how small the mini's are and I think I'll look quite silly trying to smoke those little suckers (I'm built like a lineman). Oh well, maybe I'll give one to my son as a something he can have on our fishing trip (he's 3)this summer. Not sure if the wife will like that so I'll have to ponder that for a bit.

I'm still on a personal quest to try all the OTCs as well. I've knocked out Sir Walter R., and Prince Albert.
I'll wait til the box pass hits me again and do another OTC run haha.
As for the mini cobs... You definately should have gotten the missouri pride at the very least. They are super light and reliable. Those minis... aside from looking just downright funny... might catch your nose hairs on fire.
The captain is fairly delicious too. Nice vanilla flavor there.

I recently ordered up a couple of those mini cobs thinking they might be good when there's only time for a quick few puffs. I smoked burned out the bottom of one of them on my first smoke.... wasn't too happy with it, but it's not like it set me back. Let me know what you think.

Sothron just tried one on my lunch break. There was glue all over the bottom of the bowl, the stem (stummel?) wasn't actually opened, had to punch through with a paper clip as nothing else was narrow enough to make it through. I couldn't really pack it well as my fingers wouldn't fit in the bowl at all. Only good thing I could say is that the stem was really comfortable as I'm a clencher?? Not much good to say I'm afraid, maybe my son will find it fun to play with when we fish, who knows.
Edit: Tried the half and half, nothing special, not much flavour although the pouch smelled really nice. I'll try it in my go to basket pipe later tonight or tomorrow and see if it's any better in a decent pipe.

It sounds like they haven't mastered the art of the mini cob yet in Missouri...
I personally will smoke no other than the Country Gentleman but that is quite large. Still, it is the only one that I aesthetically enjoy and I generally do without a smoke if it has to be a short one.
I hope you enjoy the OTCs. They are not my cup of tea though I wouldn't turn them down if offered.

I actually just ordered a Country Gent this afternoon as I was already buying some racks for my meager collection. Can't wait to get it and try it out. As for the short smokes Simenon, unfortunately I have two small kids and an ill wife so I don't often get much time to have a "proper" smoke. That and it's usually cold as hell this time of year in Canada so long smokes aren't easy to come by! Can't wait for the spring/summer months!!!

I hear you friend.
I have nothing against short smokes, I generally just find it takes me time to "ramp up" to a good smoking experience and the first part of a bowl is generally my least favourite. With a shorter smoke, as soon as I start to enjoy it I am down to ash...
I hear you about the weather - sometimes it is just too frigid to venture out for long.
All the best. I hope the CG works out for you. I've had 1 or 2 that were flawed but the majority were enjoyable. If it is made right then it should be unparalleled as far as the cob smoking experience goes...
