About 3 months ago Zack Hamric (zack24 on PM.com) started a thread about a stunning little pipe he had created based on a 1920s Dunhill - http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/ok-so-i-couldnt-afford-the-1500-dunhill. I have always wanted a size 1 pipe and was captivated by the skill, precision and flair required to produce Zack's pipe. The balance of the stiletto stem and canted egg(?) bowl were perfect. I had to have one. A few months on and I am now the proud owner of a wonderful work of art - complete with antique ivory ring - by another superb American artisan. Thank you Zack!
The Zippo in the pics is for scale, not decoration! Once again, apologies for any deficiencies in the images...

That drilling took some precision. What a great design, slimness with that cant to the bowl. It looks like it was

made for Virginia Perique flake.

Thanks guys. Yes John and MSO - this little one's a flake pipe, for sure. Going to break her in with the Triple Play Dan Chlebove kindly sent me with my Gabrieli birthday pipe. That pipe in turn is going to be broken in with Bombay Court, which I love and which is sufficiently rounded to prepare her for whatever suits her in the future.

Nice!! I would be afraid of that thin shank and would probably break it in no time!

Very cool indeed. Love that pencil shank. Where are we on the whole issue with Ivory that was discussed on here some time back?

Thanks Andy! Glad you like it...
@metarzan...that one came in at 15 grams.....
Peck, haven't seen any further information on that executive order...i'm pretty sure that that bit of ivory was from my little stash of mastodon, not from my hippo, warthog, fossilized walrus tooth, or antique elephant ivory stash...:)
@ejames....Don' t drop it!.... Actually, the tenon is fairly long out of carbon fiber tubing....and the weight is so light, I think it would survive everything but a drop onto concrete....

OK - she smokes like a dream! I changed my mind and I'm breaking her in with Solani 656 Aged Burley Flake as it's fairly neutral, but also because I wanted to taste it in a brand new pipe. Given that a one-third fill of this bowl is a small amount(!), I'm amazed at the depth and range of flavours I get from the Solani. The weight of the pipe is next to nothing, but the wider button gives you steady control and no feeling that the pipe might slip. The stem also seems strong for its size, probably due to the carbon fibre tenon. Very happy!

Beautiful pipe, I was curious about purchasing this one when I saw it as well. Glad it went to good hands... even though you are smoking Burley in it.
