Well, technically bent can.

Oh, perhaps you guys were expecting a pipe. Sorry for the ambiguity.

So this arrived today. Either someone at a certain retailer has anger issues or they decided to make a Rattray's pouch prototype and gave up without finishing.

The box was fine, the other tin was fine, I guess I just got sent the last ugly can on the shelf.

Not sure what to do with it. Not 100% certain if the can is damaged below the label. I'll probably jar it. I'm normally not big on returning things below a certain price point. Too much hassle.

I'm guessing it should be fine and smoke fine, but these sort of things can put a small dent in one's day.
*Yes, I put the pun in bold because I'm proud of it.

*P&C was not the retailer, before someone comes in here to comment on their S&H practices.

I rushed to see the pipe, since my first pipe was a Tinderbox bent pot with a horizontal saddle stem, I think probably made by Chacom, a kind of unique and pleasing design. Your can of Rattrays doesn't look anything like it.

Sorry to dissapoint, mso489. I as well have a fondness for french made pipes. And yes, I wouldn't imagine your first pipe looked like this tin either. Haha. Although, with all the recent threads about abstract looking pipes and 3D printed ones, I wouldn't be surprised to see a tin shaped pipe by Vauen or a misunderstood artisan maker.

As for the Marlin Flake, I jarred it and got myself a new pipe cleaner holder.

I have a can of Mac Baren Virginia #1 that looks like someone played soccer with it. I'm assuming the tobacco is fine inside.

Well, you sucked me in too! I was expecting to see a pipe!

I'd keep the tobacco in the tin. Aged, factory-sealed Marlin is divine; but opening the tin and altering the biome is a crap shoot. (Maybe if you wait long enough the little buggers' gas output will pop the tin back into shape.)

Ordered 4 cans of Rattays from 4noggins this morning, no idea if they be dented.

As long as the seal didn't pop, I wouldn't be too worried about the bent can, unless you have plans for it after you jar the content. Was expecting a pipe though ... :puffy:
