My New Novel Has Pipe Smoking In It Again

Hey friends. I’m writing to let you know I’ve got a new novel coming out on March 4, and it’s got some pipe smoking in it: RED DOG FARM (published by Little, Brown & Co.). If it sounds interesting at all, or if you liked my last one, THE MEMOIRS OF STOCKHOLM SVEN, please consider pre-ordering it from whichever bookshop or online outlet you like best. I’d be very much obliged to you.

I’ve been shamefully inactive on here for a while now, but still with you in spirit every time I light up—most often with my favorite dissonant, contrarian pairing: fancy-ass Esoterica Dorchester in a decidedly not-fancy-ass Missouri Meerschaum cob (with the paper filter! while my very fine briars and mortas look on in dismay). It may be irreverent but the heart wants what the heart wants.

So this new book is about a small family farm in rural Iceland, present day. It has less pipe-related stuff than SVEN did, but what’s there is important, and I even worked in a reference to Pibe Dan and my favorite Danish carver, P. Holtorp.

You should work in someone giving someone else a tracheotomy using the stem from a pipe. It happens all of the time, but no one ever talks about this.

Excellent, thanks! Writing the tracheotomy scene right now for the next book -- will credit you in the acknowledgments.

Ohhhh, nevermind, "best" is subjective. I prefer to use Erinmore, but since STG changed the formula, I've just been going au natural. I may have to try the perique. I like that alien glow you got going on.
