Bare with me as this is my first review. Not being an aromatic smoker, the thought of this blend really interested me. I got my tin at my local B&M Twins Smoke Shop. The tin note itself to me was complex. Fruity, it smelt familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on one specific scent. Even my wife like it so that says a lot in itself. Moisture was perfect, not too dry but not damp. The ribbons packed nicely into my Savinelli Flaminia 116KS. It lit easily and stayed lit during the course of the entire smoke. Just like other reviews I have read on this blend, it smoked like a red wine. It is very complex and while being an aromatic it is not sweet. The complexity for me stayed throughout the entirety of the smoke and I was able to smoke the entire bowl down the ash. I will buy additional tins of this as it will take multiple smokes to unpack this great blend. Hopefully I didn’t bore anyone, happy smokes.

Black Cavendish, cigar leaf, dark-fired, and Virginia plus flavoring which seems to be fruit of some kind, or so-flavored, is what this is. It's currently sold out at SP, so that indicates it is getting some compliments elsewhere too.

I’m most intrigued by this one. I happen to love artificial grape flavoring, and this seems to possess that while still boasting a respectable blend of “real” non-aromatic tobacco. It’s not just black cavendish and goop. Or so I hear! I never smoke aromatics, but this is one to try for sure. I’m glad to hear you and many others seem to enjoy it quite a lot. Personally I can’t stand Dreams of Kadath or Mad Fiddler, as much as I wanted to love them. I think they both taste like an ashtray topped with a vaguely sweet casserole of absolute nonsense. By many accounts this is a much more well executed blend. Thanks for posting your impressions, I want to try it even more now.

You may actually like Captain Black Grape. I do.
I bought a pouch as a laugh and I ended up liking it. First bowl I smoked was walking around a busy section of town and I’ve never had so many compliments and questions.

The pouch will probably last me years since I don’t smoke it often, but Captain Black in general seems to have a magical ability to stay “moist” for years.

After my first pouch I went through a tub in just less than a month.?

Alright I caved and got a pouch of Captain Black Grape and threw in a few tins of Visions. I’m off the road and home with my pipes all next week, which means I’m expecting my very soul to reek of grape before the week is out. If I end up really liking one or both of them, I might dedicate my new Ashton as a grape pipe. I knows that’s probably sacrilege, but... ?‍♂️ If you smoke tobacco you love out of a pipe that you love, what else can you want, amiright?

I didn’t find that the Captain Black grape ghosted my pipes so far and I’ve tried it in both a cob and a briar. This could be because I tried it around the time I gave Ennerdale Flake a shot and that stuff basically ruined my good cob.

I’m interested to hear if visions has a grape flavour once you’ve tried it.

Grabbin’ groceries in the Maserati... For when the ice cream absolutely, positively has to get back to the freezer on time! rotf

Love it!
After having three Dunhills that wouldn't pass a pipe cleaner, two were straight billiards, I put them more in common with a Yugo. They make excellent planters too.

@chasingembers that’s a shame. I just got my first Dunhill in, it’s an old shell that’s had the “made in england” and date code worn away. I suspect it to be from the mid 60’s. Lovely interesting (well worn) finish, and it’s extremely agile and comfortable. Smokes like an absolute gem so far. Chamber is out of round and the rim is super dark, but that just means it’s been a good well used smoker. For the price I paid, I’m impressed and I get the hype. Sucks you’ve had bad ones, I’d be pissed if I paid a decent chunk of change for a pipe that sucked ass so bad I used it for a planter ?

One got traded for some tobacco, the two pictured above made their way to the landfill back in Spring.
