So things have gotten pretty tight here at the Pettibon household and so after over a month of saving and just before a several month annex on purchasing frivolous items I placed an order on SmokingPipes...

And a bit of PAD that I'm going to try and keep from the wife...

Sorry for the bad photos! My phone camera wasnt too good to start with and its been a couple years. Anywho, at least I know what I'll be doing all weekend! So many blends and so little time. Any recommendations on what to start out with?

The pipe was a handmade number I sniped on ebay from a guy just starting out. Do I need another pipe? No. But I was willing to risk the 40 or so dollars to try out his handiwork.
The Cairo shall be popped! Though I have to admit I'm going to have to try out that Anniversary Blend from McClelland today. I've been wondering about it since I placed the order.

Great clutch, you must have had good fun unboxing that. I'm always tickled by how American vendors hide the health warnings on European tins with those 'Fine Pipe Tobacco' stickers.

I actually saw how askew the sticker was and was wondering what it was hiding only to remove it and see the warning... The unboxing was really fun but it was FAR more fun to get to open ever tin and smell and experience them as I jarred them all up.

Just tried Cairo (at the suggestion of Roth) and it started out WAY spicy and rough but mellowed out and was a VERY smooth and enjoyable smoke starting at about 3/4 of the way in and through the rest of the pipe.
My wife lit up the the one I was most nervous about (mostly because it smelled like straight chemicals out of the tin) the Two Friends Vella Crucis and let me try it periodically and THANK GOD it didnt taste like it smelled. For those of you that dont know, it is a ginger topped light-medium aro. It ended up being semi-sweet, kind of like a bit more intense golden virginia blend with an unnamed tart-citrus-ey-ness that was fairly enjoyable. Not a blend for everyone by any means but if you are willing to try something a bit off the wall and you can get a sample of it I would recommend it though I wouldnt spring for a whole tin unless you were sure.

Nice Burl. Looking at your post made me realized I left Cairo off my yearly big (for me) order. Again.

Just tried the "Buddies" last night before bed... When they labeled it as a strong aromatic they werent kidding! Woof! I am officially using it as a replacement for after dinner dessert!
