A Peterson Arklow (B58).

I had wanted a pipe this shape. I believe they are called pokers? I've seen them called that, dwarven hammers, or just hammers. Honestly I liked it because it resembles a shotgun barrel. This was an estate pipe I happened to find over on Smoking Pipes. Currently has some Peterson Sherlock Holmes loaded. It hasn't disappointed, I can see why so many like this brand.

They have several under the Arklow name. I think it refers to the blast and color since they all share it.
But thank you for the compliments, I'm rather pleased with this pipe. The bowl is deeper than I expected which is a good because I prefer long smokes.

Interesting, I had no idea they were a limited run for Smokingpipes.com or that the fine people there helped design them. Makes me even happier to have picked this pipe up now.

Given the many attractive designs in the vast Peterson catalogue, you may find yourself tempted by quite a few more in the future.

Oh I'm already being tempted by many of their designs. Only problem is, my pipe rack is full and I'm running out of room to store my pipes before the lady of the house goes off on me about pipes being everywhere.

Oh it is, fun. I've made 2 pipes out of cherry wood and smoked them both. I enjoyed it greatly, but then I got a pipe kit for a pipe carving competition down in Fayetteville. I just got it roughed in and let me tell you, I won't go back from briar. It's been a joy to work with. All I have are some basic tools like a band saw, some wood files, an orbital sander and a dremel. I'm going to work with one of my pipe club memebers who has buffers I can use later, but ultimately I have really enjoyed it. Been looking for some old pallets to break up and use to make a small rack for pipes, jars and tins I keep at the office. I really enjoy working with wood to make different things.

I think I have seven Petes. Never had a problem with any of them. One P-lip, the rest fishtail bits. Two B11 brandy sitters, a KP author, a 999 Killarney, an Around the World bulldog (Ireland pipe), a Belgique, a natural zulu ... what'd I forget? The KP author took some time to reach its prime, but the others came ready-to-go.
