I've done restorations on Charatan's, GBD's, Comoy's, Danish Pipes, Savinelli's, Mastercraft, etc....but this is my first Dunhill. It's a 475 Shell, full nomenclature as follows: 475 F/T : Dunhill Shell : Made In England8 (8 is raised and underlined) : (4) S......and from what I can find the small raised 8 means it was made in 1958.

Note: In the photo of the nomenclature it looks like a raised 6, but under a magnifying glass it's clearly an 8.

Thanks everyone.
ashdigger.....LOL...ya think after all the pipes I've restored in the past few years, that my freakin' brain would tell me....."Don't forget to take photo's.....BEFORE....you start." So far it hasn't worked....always think of that.....AFTER....I'm done.

ss - thanks. Next up I have a Dunhill 774 Root Briar and a beautiful Ben Wade Straight Grain Danish Freehand. And while I'm thinking of it, I'm going to take Before photo's of each.

Before pics are always a good idea! I'm recarving a pipe for my dad, transformed a werecat into a bear head . . . and my dummy self forgot to take before pics. While I am impressed with the work I did . . . unless you can show what the pipe was originally, it will be lost on others!

That is one of the nicest shaped Dunhill pipes I have seen and you did a fine job bringing out its beauty. Well done Seadog.
