After stressing way to hard about whether to buy something new or old I finally decided to buy these 2 pipes from eBay. Figured these were cheap enough that even if they by some odd chance were bad smokers or something was terribly wrong with them that i didn’t have to worry much. Plus I wanted to try my hand at a light restoration project. The Renlane stem needs a good sanding and polishing I believe. I’ll give them a good salt and Everclear bath and ream the bowls out really good.

They were both listed for just over $30 each but I was able to get the guy to sell them to me for $45 for both. I don’t think that’s too bad but you Gentlemen will have to give your honest Opinions on how you think I did. The Chacom was an easy decision for me because I was able to find lots of good literature about the company. The Renlane is a different story. I couldn’t find anything at all about the company or its history. Renlane isn’t even listed on Pipedia website. But I love the straight grain on the pipe and think it’s beautiful.

I just lifted these pics from the sellers original post on eBay. The lighting is much better than anything I’d get here inside the house. If anyone wants to chime in with some info or can say anything at all about either pipe I’d be extremely grateful.

I can hardly wait to smoke out of them. It’ll be my first real briar pipe smoking experience. 🍻🍻

The first was marked "Renlane" which I haven't heard but I am sure somebody here knows something about them.

The second one is a Chacom. Should be a decent smoker for you. They have been around forever.

Thanks Kcghost, I did quite a bit of searching and couldn’t find anything on Renlane. It’s actually a really nice looking pipe. It’s really light and in great shape. Giving them a good soak with salt and Everclear right now. Probably won’t get to use them until Friday. I’ll send an update to let you guys know how they smoke then.
