My Daughter Thought It Was A Bong . . .

Went and saw the kids this weekend. My wife was showing my daughter some pictures when my daughter started flipping through the camera. All of a sudden she got a horrified look on her face and said, "Is that what I think it is?!!!" My wife glance over and said, "Yes." Neither of us understood what was going on till my daughter said very doubtfully, "Well, it is legal. . ."
They were looking at a picture I had taken of the Kirsten Aristocrat that I had just purchased and am getting ready to work on. My wife and I started laughing and tried to explain about Kirsten pipes. I'm not sure whether she believed us or not until my wife sent her the website address.
No matter how old they get, they are still your kids . . .

Since you can't smoke in public many places, this kind of confusion may afflict smokers of

Peterson Calabash pipes. One young pipe smoker kept being asked by kids in the 'hood if

he had a little weed in that pipe. No, but he was probably risking being arrested nonetheless.

That is awesome!! I am AGR in a National Guard unit in which 40% of the unit are Cops in civilian life. On my 1st Drill with this new unit, we went to the range. So I packed my Kirsten, thinking it more durable than briar (til i can get a spigot).
When I whipped it out and headed for the smoking area, my First Sergeant (Ferndale, WA PD) stated, "Why SSG P, you just keep getting more and more interesting..."
I made them all sniff the tobacco to end the perception right there.

I showed my ignorance in the title, I wouldn't know a bong from a pot pipe - thought they were the same.

In the 60's I was busy supporting myself so there was no throw away cash to do the hippie thing.

To me, those Kirstens and other changeable bowl pipes still look like drug paraphernalia to me. I still do a double-take when I see them being smoked, even though I know, I know. I have absolutely no reservations of smoking my pipe everywhere I go, but those things... I would just expect to be questioned with one of those. They just aren't very pretty to me.

But, to those that like 'em, more power to ya.
