I have seen some morta pipes fused with briar. I wonder how these are fused together and if these bad boys will last. It appears the bowl is morta and the shaft extending to the stem is briar. Worobiec makes it so it is probably well made. Just curious how durable a fused wood pipe will be in the long run.

Propably as durable als one with an exotic wood ring or similiar. those also dont simply fall off.

I have had briar pipes with ivory accents for years and the bond is just as strong as the day they were bought. Likely an epoxy bond.

Yeah, even a standard wood glue like Tite Bond II has a supreme hold. I once glued several pieces of wood together using that, and just the boards beneath it for support were stuck to it so damn tight, I had to use a cheap putty knife and a hammer to get them off, and those weren't even clamped together. Not sure with such fine grains though, but I'm sure they won't go anywhere. None of my cobs have fallen apart yet and that's likely just your standard wood glue.
