How old were you when you started to appreciate the morning more than the rest of the day? In the last couple years I've been waking at 5am or earlier to have a few hours truly to myself and it has become my favorite part of the day. I was never one to sleep past 9am unless I was out to 5am. I recall with both fondness and disgust coming home as people were heading to work or going for their morning run, more disgust really as thinking about it now gives me a headache. In the early morning I do some stretching, read a little, make some tea, pop a snus in and feel on top of the world even while in the back of my mind I know that these few hours of peace will unravel into the chaos and responsibilities of the day. I also love that when I pass the bedroom door our dog starting wagging his tail making thumping sounds on the mattress until I'm out of sight.

I’ve always been a morning person. I used to love to wake up early before my family got up and watch cartoons and plan all the fun things I wanted to do that day but I got away from that in college and started sleeping in. It’s around that time that I started getting migraines and from what I can determine sleeping in has some connection to the migraines so I now wake up early.
Not only does waking up early help with my migraine frequency but it gives me a chance to read or paint while the kids sleep. I love drinking my coffee and reading in peace. That’s a rarity for me these days.

One of the most wonderful things is when I am in the country house of my in-laws in Galicia, in the mornings, on the terrace, with a good coffee and a pipe or a cigar. In front of me from the terrace you can see Portugal, just two kilometers away. Although I also enjoy in the nights, smoking quietly. Perhaps my favorites are the early mornings and nights. Another fantastic place to smoke, for my taste, is the seaport. Either in Vigo city, or in my town, in the coastal area, the marina. I love the smell of the sea, coffee and good tobacco smoke. Another spectacular place with an excellent gastronomy is Bayona city, Pontevedra. BRVB9260.JPG

16? Got up at 0400 to get ready for school. The school was an hour subway ride into Manhattan. The first cigarette out the door was always great. When I get to Grand Central, the school was 15 min walk away. I'll stop by a church to warm my feet then stop by pizza parlor for a slice and beer. Mornings were the greatest.

Did you convene with Foggy Mountain at the pizza parlor?

Left to my own devices I'll sleep until noon.. I wake up for appointments and responsibilities, but I wish I was a morning person. I've been trying to catch it from my wife for years. Maybe one day it'll take. She has this vision of me and her drinking coffee together as we watch the sun rise.. It sounds great and I'd love to be there, but I haven't made it yet.

Foggy Mountain was a well liked and respected member of our forum until his passing a few years ago.

I joined the forum around the time of his passing so I didn't have the pleasure to interact with him but I have read nearly every post of his since. What a character! Sometimes their are people who you haven't actually met but you just know you would get along with them if they were able to tolerate you.
