So, Rich's in downtown Portland is having a 25% off sale for the next week or so. I went there today, with some friends. My intent was to help them choose pipes; they're interested in getting started.
And while they browsed, I figured I'd look at the freehands. Started with the Nordings...there were some BEAUTIFUL pipes. However, as my gaze roved over the pipes, I spotted a pipe that made my heart leap. A Molina, and a testament to human ability. Beautiful straight grain on the sides, and delightful birdseye on top. A shape that lets it sit happily upon a table, and a sunny disposition.
There are a couple more photos, but I don't want to post them all here...they are rather large files.
Oh, and I feel that I didn't do this pipe justice...the notecards are worse than my plain desk, after looking at these in post. Lesson learned.
Oh, and a quick question; are Molinas push stems or something else? Because the stem on this one doesn't seem to budge, and I don't know if that is design, or it is a screw in stem or what.
