You may remember, a couple of months ago, I put up a post about my mystery plants that turned out to be an Oriental strain of tobacco plants. Well, they bloomed again, so I thought I'd update and show you their progress and some new blooms.
First a little refressher as to what they looked like, this time with an enclosure of a blizzard we had, and are still having (it's brutal right now in Prince George), and then a couple of closeup blooms. This shot contains my circling dog Ricoh, who's 20 years old, totally blind and totally deaf. But he still likes to eat, evacuate his bladder and bowels whenever he feels like it, still plays me and is still totally obnoxious and disobedient. He's a Shi-tsu. What else can you expect, eh?

What, are you thinking, did I do with the blooms? Well, they're much too small to put in any vase that I have. They don't last very long, so out of curiousity, I ate them. 
They were delicious! Very bitter . . . as an explanation, I've always liked bitter flavours, even as a lad. Hence the cold black coffee, English bitter in the pub in my youth, agnostura bitters as flavouring . . . . just a flavour that I enjoy that I consider underappreciated by the majority of people. I also used to put hot sauce on everything, and ate Seschaun Chinese and hot curries all my life until eczema struck me in my 70s and I had to eat pablum, so it were. My mom was a French trained cooking expert who often wrote food columns in the Vancouver Sun in the 1950's, and she reacted with horror at my culinary proclivities. But, to her relief, I also enjoyed all other types of food as well. As a matter of fact, she often referred to me as the Ultimate Omnivore. Or something like that.
Be that as it may, there may come a sad end to this story. I was told by someone who knows the score, that my plants are not legal in BC, and if they are discovered in a house search, a distinct possibility because as you might know, I'm a shooter and small bore director of the Prince George Rod and Gun club, I will be charged and at least fined for the weight of the plants for "duty" applied to tobacco in the Province. That would be a huge fine given our duty rates on tobacco. Can't afford that. So, they may have to be dried, hidden and smoked. Pity.
It's outrageous when you think that in this bailiwick, pot is legal to grow, buy and smoke. What a screwed up world, eh? methinks.
