I love my various cobs, several with Forever stems, enjoyable every time. I have various

medium size MM cobs, and two Old Dominions with reed stems. This Christmas, my wife

gave me one of the MM freehand natural white cobs with an acrylic stem, and it opened a

whole new dimension of cob smoking with a bowl big enough for an extra long smoke, which

also is exactly right for Tabac Manil Semois, which is dry and burns fairly fast. This has a bent

stem and its XL bowl, but the pipe is quite light for its size, just right when I want to give my

big-bowled briars a rest. It's one of these "where have you been all my life" experiences.

I value all sizes of pipes, from extra small to extra large. This one fits right in. Even Brad, our

big-bowl expert, would approve.

I have a few of the freehands and love them. You should try out the General as well.

Glad your liking that new MM Freehand, mso!
Semois has really grown on me as a morning smoke with coffee.

mso489...I agree with you and like lifeon2, think you might like the General as well. I have four of them in addition to two Freehands. The General might even have a slightly larger capacity due to it having a straight walled chamber as opposed to the slightly conical shaped bowl of the Freehand.

I am also totally loving my freehand. At first I was upset bec. Pipes&cigars sold me one with a cracked stem and I didn't realize it was cracked until I saw smoke coming out of the wrong place. I put some tape on it and it works fine. My favorites are the freehand and the mark twain. I just ordered a Wizard, hopefully it comes with a big bowl like the freehand. Anything with Orientals taste so good in a cob! Between the cobs and my new meer, my briars are definitely getting enough rest.

I really like my MM Freehand also. It is my favorite pipe for smoking SPC's Mississippi River in. I will be adding a General to my next cob order as well.

momeerphil, I don't notice any ghosting with Tabac Manil Semois at all. It is, as a Forums member explained to me,

a burley variant, and it sure isn't flavored (like some of the Lakeland blends notorious for ghosting). Some are

exquisitely sensitive to ghosting and can always taste if another blend has been run through a pipe, but I rarely taste

ghosting and have never found it unpleasant nor permanent in cob or briar. Maybe I'm not discerning enough, but

I don't find this a problem. My cobs will cook anything, and I've never been displeased.
