Story from the Associated Press:
Missouri Lawmakers Vote to Continue Smoking in Offices
Excerpted:
Republicans said the current rule allowing smoking in legislative offices was "adequate" to mitigate the effects of secondhand smoke, noting the risk is lower than it used to be. Rep. Warren Love from Osceola asked the committee to imagine meeting in the 1950s and 1960s.
"There would be spittoons or cigar smoking or pipe tobacco all over this room," he said.
The smoking restrictions passed over the last decades should be enough, he said. "Somehow along the line, people enjoy smoking ... so I say leave the rule as it is."

So, this applies only to the Missouri Legislators? If so, this is simply another example of the incredible hypocrisy of of law makers. Legislate them, not us.

Well, Mike, given that the entire US Congress opted to excuse themselves from the catastrophic shit show that is the Affordable Care Act, this one is not surprising either.

There is not much hypocrisy in Missouri legislators' decision to allow smoking in their offices. As near as I can tell most of the anti-smoking policies in MO are imposed at the municipal and county levels.
