Hey all, I took on a job because i needed to get my kids some school clothes. This job turned out to be like 2 time to work that i had thought. I am a painter by trade with my specialty being wood finishing. I took on a house addition wood package that has 2 built in book cases, 4 doors and jambs, plus 6" crown and 6' base. Its a 30'x20' great room addition. The addition is almost as big as the house its attached to. I haven't done this work since I broke my back an am not conditioned to the labor. No amount of pain pills, or alieve even touch the constant pain I'm in. I have to take many breaks and work many hours. By the time I get home and make dinner for my kids, I'm beat. I miss coming here and shooting the sh!t. I have told a couple of people i would send them some tobacco, but the post office has been closed every night when i get home. So i will send it monday. I will get the job done sunday night if it kills me. its all sealed and I'm finishing sanding and filling today. Tomorrow after church I'll topcoat and clean up.... This is the hardest I've ever worked for the money I'm getting. I just way under bid it. Coming out of retirement had been a flipping nightmare. Thanks for the baccy Guitarman. I'm sending yours, Juds, Gmwolfords stuff out monday. Now that I'm done Whining like a little girl I'm off to sand and fill. Ugh :x Have a great weekend!!!

Do what you gotta do to take care of that family brother. I usually put in 60-80 a week so I feel your pain.

Been there, underbidding sucks and when you did it you can't even be mad at anyone, feel for you.

This is why I rarely do side work.

Last job I did I told them my hourly rate and all materials were on them.

You never know what you are getting into on certain jobs and this way I am covered.

Wood finishing can be tough, so many variables going on.

I used to spray lots of lacquer when I was in a cabinet shop, to say the least I prefer building to finishing by a long shot.

You take care of your self, my brother. I'm sorry about the pain; I can't do anything about that, I wish I could. You fight on, bro and if you need techie help, PM me. You have good looking little dudes though; I'm sure they will be great people. Love you man, take care.

Shawn, I have no idea what it is like to underbid something, but at least it is a pay check. Sucks to have to work in pain but you should feel good about yourself that you sucked it up and you are putting food on the table. When my kids were young I used to work over 80 hours a week and never saw them. It sucked but it paid off big time, haven't punched a clock since 1996.
