I am guessing the guys on here who call a pipe a nose warmer are referring to a smaller sized pipe.
My local B&M have some and was debating getting one, primarily for one reason: when i dont have enough time to smoke a full sized full bowl.
Does anyone have any advice / recommendations / opinions on the matter.

A nose warmer is actually a very short pipe, Hence it keeps your nose warm. I have one and it's actually quite large.
I do have a smaller sized pipe that I use for the same reason you mentioned. On the flip side, you don't always have to fill your bowl full either, and you can always let it go out and come back to it later.

I agree, they are 2 different things. If you want to only smoke a short amount, you don't need to get a smaller pipe necessarily - just fill one of your pipes half way.
Personally nose warmers are kinda cool but trendy. I don't get the mini-pipe fad
[Edit: I do have a couple shorter billiards but they are not what I would consider a nose warmer, to me a nose-warmer is one with a very short stem but everything else is normal]

I'm always afraid if I leave the bowl half burnt with the ash on top that its going to ruin the flavor of whatever's left, that untrue?

Nose Warmers are definitely fun and can come in quite handy at times when you want to have just a few quick puffs. I have a Mr. Brog along with an Old Lloyds Compact in it's own little leather case and a Briarlee Stroller. They are handy and fun and can hold a surprisingly fair amount of tobacco.

I dont think a pipe with a small chamber is a nosewarmer...I was told a pipe under 4 3/4" total length would b concidered a nosewarmer..I have a stanwell 191 that I absolutely love, but it does have a full sized bowl

This is a nose warmer in my opinion:

Not always. Doubtful you will ruin the tobacco. I let mine go out a couple times a day for 10-15 minutes wih my pipe and let it go out and re-light.

I have three nosewarmers. Two Italian briars and a corn cob. I lov'em because they're perfect pocket sized pipes (good for hikes) and give a great 20 to 30 minute smoke.

As for smoking with your friends, you don't have to finish with them. When they finish, smother your pipe and save it. When they go back out, relight. Sometimes the tobacco even gets better.

Good advice... I guess I am gauging all this from one house blend from the local B&M...
When I smell the top of the bowl after being half burnt... It smells very ashy and afraid itll taste the same

I don't like to use the DGT (delayed gratification technique) where you let it go out and come back to it a day or two later. I just don't like what it does to the flavor but letting it go out and re-lighting a few hours later works just fine for me. That's just my personal experience and many disagree with it. Why not give it a try and decide for yourself, worst that could happen is that you don't like it and have to clean your pipe.

A nice Stanwell featherweight for briar/quicker smoke. I smoke

one of their Tan horn featherweights and really like this lil

smoker
A nice Storient meer/smaller bowl design for a quicker/true

smoke of any blend and bonus of no rest times

As for DGT, I've never had anything important enough happen to prevent me from finishing my pipe.
As for nose warmers I have a few. The first was a commission from Adam Remington. I asked for a black blasted pipe with a smooth rim. He came up with this.

I don't know that I would have ever asked for a short stem, or a white bakelite stem for that matter. But it works!
The other is this Jody Davis estate I got at this year's Columbus show.

I love this pipe. It's perfectly balanced and the blast is just plain SICK.
