It's funny sometimes what pipes I choose to bring downstairs for the days smoke, when I looked at how much F&T Cut Blended Plug was left I barely filled the bowl of this tiny mini Freehand Churchwarden by Boswell (I can cover the bowl with the upper portion of my thumb, but it's not having any problems keeping it smokey.

fish', you wrote a post testimonial to smaller pipes two or three years ago, so I tried one and have never looked back. I have mostly mid-size Group 4's, but I enjoy and use my XL's, and I find small pipes great for many purposes including sampling, wading into extra strong blends, and especially for fairly long smokes with flake/plug/coin/rope blends, which can burn a long time in a small bowl. Small pipes are extra portable and conserving of tobacco. If you have more than six or eight pipes, you need a small one, or several.
