Don't need to say much about this guy. He was giant in the industry. He could act and he knew how to put a show together. He was the real deal. Starting out as the son of Kirk Douglas certainly didn't hurt him being the son of "Spartacus". Helping to produce "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" set his career into overdrive. I've never quite forgiven him for taking Catherine Zeta-Jones away from me. Went on to produce and star in numerous popular productions. He was 79.

I heard a story about Michael Douglas, son of Kirk, from when he was in Prep School. I think it was Phillips Exeter that he went to and he was an 'actor' back then too. He buffaloed people by playing an adult. I can't recall the details, only that my impression then was that he was a typical privileged rich kid. His career speaks for itself.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is one of my favorite stories both book and movie, of all time.

Went to school with aforesaid Douglas, and Exeter it wasn't.

Typical rich kid? Absolutely not. He had good looks, a famous name, and often had a bevy of babes hanging on to him. So he had the "typical rich kid" still left in the starting blocks. Arrogant? To the max. I once had him address me as "pal"..... but it was not said with even a touch of friendship.

The son of Kirk Douglas, if I have it right, outlived at least one life threatening disease, or did it for a long time anyway. So I'm glad he hit a more ripe old age, although he doesn't seem so old to me. If I recall, he starred in the "Bonfire of the Vanities" movie and did a great job personifying a money hungry Wall Street tycoon. It must have been fifteen years ago, at least, that he didn't seem long for this world, but he wrote a few more chapters it seems.

Well, at least when all of these celebrities finally do kick off, someone can just bump these threads.
