Scandinavian Tobacco Group is Now the World's Largest Pipe Tobacco Company.
Some of the brands include; Dunhill, Balkan Sasieni, Escudo, Orlik, W.Ø. Larsen, CAO, Borkum Riff, Erinmore and Half & Half as well as many others. Stanwell Pipes are also part of the company.

I was wondering this same thing... I was wondering if this would affect prices or not really matter! I guess time will tell!

Mayhaps it is the old addage of "If you can't beat them. buy them?"

I think the two companies were really more complimentary than competition. Swedish Match was stronger in cigars and Scandinavian Tobacco was stronger in the pipe tobacco market. From a purely business perspective, I think it was a smart merger.

Simon, I just emailed the CEO of Scandinavian Tobacco with your question and asked him to comment.
I had the opportunity to meet him at the IPCPR show in New Orleans recently. I have emailed him previously and he has answered, so my expectations are high for an answer on this.
Part of my email said:
Would you care to comment on what the merger means to the pipe smoking consumer? Should we expect any changes in prices, distribution and product selection?
