As a new pipe smoker, I've been made aware on this forum and the YTPC that I live close to one of the best pipe manufacturers. A few weeks ago I called BriarWorks and Pete Prevost answered. He was incredibly friendly and invited me out to see their new digs. Today, I took him up on the offer. BriarWorks is situated near the downtown square of Columbia, TN, (pop 40,000) in a 1940's era warehouse. The owner is an older, widowed lady who still lives on a large, family farm outside of town. She has been very hesitant to lease to just anybody. After talking with Pete, she went on to tell him that they use to farm tobacco on her property many years ago. Needless to say, she was excited to have BriarWorks as a new tenant. Pete was a gracious host and showed me the details from the bags of imported briar wood to the finished product. He kept referring back to the quality of their product -- that he wanted to make the best pipe possible and keep it at a reasonable price. They have definitely done that with true artisans working on these pipes and I was even more impressed after the tour. If you're in the area, Pete is planning a grand opening on September 1 and I'm sure he'd love to meet you and show you around.

Pete is a class act. Friendly, knowledgeable, and easygoing. A real asset to the PipeWorld.
Briarworks new location is quite something. A perfect match, I think.
Thanks for the report. :D
