I am very fond of classically shaped, straight pipes and as much as I enjoy my cobs for their utilitarian traits, I would like to take the plunge into the world of meerschaum pipes. As I’ve been researching meerschaum pipes I’ve concluded that I should probably look to get a push pull stem but I am having trouble finding the right pipe for me. I like the .7-.75 chamber diameter and the 1.3-1.5 chamber depth ranges respectively. For some reason it appears as though all of the nicer, push-pull stem billiard meerschaum pipes either have a much bigger chamber size than I would like, or they are my preferred chamber size, but they have a screw in stem. Am I overthinking the push-pull vs screw in? I’ve also read that the screw ins have a tighter draw and I like a more open draw. This is going to be a work-horse pipe for me seeing almost daily use which is why I’m being so particular in my selection. Any advice would be appreciated.

I got a couple of army mount meers because I wanted to be able to take them apart for cleaning as often as I wanted without fear of breaking them. Highly recommended. Also you don’t have to worry about a restricted draw from the fittings.

I’ll bet you can get a Turkish pipe maker (like Said Altinay) to make whatever sized straight billiard you need. This is my small one, I don’t have a pic of the bigger one.

Good god that is a beautiful pipe! That’s pretty much exactly what I’m looking for.

+1 on contacting Saïd Altinay for getting a commissioned one if you can't find it on the website. Very easy to work with, I contacted him via DM on Instagram, but I suppose you can also message him via Facebook or E-Mail, he also has a account on this forum but I don't know how actively he reads it. IMHO for the pipe he delivers the price is very reasonable. Shipping is also lightning fast and free when ordering a pipe, they use DHL which are great. I live in the EU, so on every order from outside the EU above 20 euro/dollar I have to pay VAT, you get a bill in advance when the pipe is in Turkey, if I pay it straight away it isn't held at customs for elongated time but already passes customs clearance upon arrival in the EU.

Both my Altinays smoke great with a very good draws, drilling is decent for me and I really like their stems. the small Dublin is a pipe of their website and the bulldog is the commission. The smaller pipe has a teflon push stem also, i've yet to see a Altinay screw in stem. Pictures for reference;

I just found out recently that custom IMP commissions can be made through Meerschaum Market.

I bought three Meers in the past year or so. IMP, Altinay and SRV. All the are medium in size, have around a .75 bowl ID and have a push pull tenon. None were commissioned.
So far, none of my current ones were commissioned but I have asked IMP to make a meerschaum replacement for a previous favorite pipe.
