Marxman Pipes made a toy airplane that sold for three dollars. When Columbia Pictures made a movie with a sixty five cent Marxman plane, Marx sued Columbia for disparagement and lost, in 1954.

I don’t recommend “The Marrying Kind”, lol. Aldo Ray was not, IMO, cut out for romantic dramedy. A better movie with similar themes by a million is “Penny Serenade” with Cary Grant and Irene Dunne - will break your heart and you’ll let it.

Hilarious that a remark about buying a toy not identified by name sparked a lawsuit.

Marxman pipes as a factory either had already or was at an end. I’ve often wondered about that plane lawsuit. Clearly Marx was trying to expand his business, but he had or was selling off to MasterCraft and accepting a position as a vice president and sales person.
