To all the veteran pipe smokers on these forums who have made my relatively new journey into the brotherhood of the briar enjoyable and exciting. Although I am tenacious enough to have made it through on my own, without the help I've received here in the form of encouragement, video tutorials and sage advice The process would have been far more arduous and it would have taken far longer for me to sit here in my garden and simply enjoy a satisfying pipe experience.
Some of you guys are also damn funny in your posts, which adds to the experience in its own way. Crop dusting, decoder rings and Ty-D-Bowl come to mind immediately.
Thanks and much gratitude!

Baron you are a fine addition to our ranks of pipers...

No thanks are necessary.

I for one am learning from you.

Thanks to you as well.

Ive found that there is camaraderie amongst pipe smokers that is almost unrivaled in every aspect. From trading tobaccos and pipes and sharing tips and experiences, the things we learn from one another and the things that we take away from this hobby, I think, ultimately make us better people. Why do we have this close knit feeling in the community? Maybe its because, realistically, pipe smokers make up a very small percent of the population. Maybe its because its an experience thats so unique to every person who enjoys it. Or maybe its because pipe smoking is a dying art form, a facet of life from long ago that we are trying to keep alive. Whatever the case may be, I am proud to be a pipe smoker, I am proud to know other pipe smokers, and I am proud to have known each and every person that I talk to on this forum. Thank you all.

I hear you, lonestar. I now have enough pipes to necessitate having a pipe rack.
Ad another +1 to what match said. Most forums stake mere baby steps beyond slacktivism. Here, I have seen genunine acts of self-sacrifice and human kindness towards other members.
One disagreement, though. I don't believe the artform is dying. I believe it is on its way to a new renaissance.
Time will tell...

There are many indications that the pipe smoker market, while still a tiny niche, has been increasing for at least the last 2 - 3 years. It does seem to have an unrivaled level of camaraderie.
