Dear friend I need your help.

2 days ago I bought a pipe on eBay but unfortunately I can’t find any info about it such as manufacturer name and age.
I’ll be very appreciate if you help me understand what I bought :)

pics are attached

“ESCORT - MADE BY ENGLAND - 37”

Thank you

Thinking it's a Comoy's off-brand? No matter the brand, I like the pipe. Looks solid.

Hmmm. This "Made By England" must be a "thing." Anyone know where that comes from? Are other products "made by England," or is this just a Comoy phrase? It sounds like the entire nation took part. Talk about a factory pipe! For decades, pipes in the U.S. often said "Imported Briar." The translation on that one was, the war is over and we can get briar again so we aren't making pipes out of lesser wood. That hung on, almost as a tradition, to the sixties, I think. They did not, however, say the pipes were made by the United States.

Many pipes designate nation of origin with one word, like Italy, France, etc. I've never seen one before with the word "by" added. I think Comoy originated in France, went to England, then moved back to France, so maybe this dates back to the move to England when a French speaker was designing the stamp. I don't know how the French usually do with the English language, but I do know (or it seems to me) that the English regularly butcher French words and phrases, applying English phonetics and pronunciation. I think this habit started centuries ago as part of a hostility to France as a competing nation. Now I think it is just an odd habit.

Pic of this stamping? Looks like the seller made a typo more than anything.
