With all the information and opinions about corporate doings and wrongdoings going around lately, it feels very good to be the bearer of good news.

Some months ago, I read about Malevo tobacco, a new brand from Argentina that claimed to produce their own perique and latakia and elaborates a total of five blends. I immediately contacted them through instagram and placed an order. It was not easy, as they are not yet selling to the public, but Leonel was very helpful and the package arrived two or three weeks later.

Look at the packaging. The cords, the stamped paper boxes, the wax seals... You're not going to smoke them but the presentation is gorgeous! This is a thing clearly made with love an care.

They claim to use no chemicals on their tobaccos, and that must be true unless you consider vinegar (or maybe it was acetid acid) a chemical. There's certainly no PG here as this tobaccos dry out in a matter of seconds. The hold very well in jars, though. The vinegary smell is very powerful in cold, but I don't really notice it while smoking.

So long I've tried the following blends: Full Virginia (straight virginia), HEMI (VaPer) and San Jerónimo (Same as HEMI but with double the perique). They seem to be all the same virginia base with different amounts of perique or none at all. No crazy things, no complications. Just variations on the same theme. Well, not "just" because San Jerónimo really stands out and looks like something else. I really liked them all, but this one is now one of my favourites after 20 years of pipesmoking.

If anyone has tried any of their other blends, I'd be happy to hear about them.

What was the cost of shipping?
When will they be open to taking orders?

Excuse me for my English. When I said they are not selling to the public I meant they are not selling to distributors in Argentina yet. They seem to have a little bit of paperwork ahead. But they certainly took my order and I don't think they have a problem with international ones. I know of at least two other people here in Spain that bought from them.

Shipping was pricey. Like 45 euros for a 500 grams package. But they're tobacco is so cheap that each pouch amounted to 13 euros, postage included. Mind you, each pouch contains 40 grams if I'm not mistaken.

Your English is better than my English.
I’m intrigued by the stronger Va/Per as Virginia Perique blends are a favorite of mine, as well as straight Perique for smoking and blending.
Thanks for the info!
