Maigurs Knets Shank Band

Today is probably the first time I've smoked this pipe in daylight and I just now really noticed the band on it. I got the pipe as an estate piece in one of the Taurus auctions. It was listed as an acorn.

I'm curious if this might be made from an actual acorn shell:







Thoughts?

There's a guy on another site that casts his own material with pinecones in it. Looks damn similar, I'd say yes.

Yeah it's stabilized something or other.
When I was more into custom knives I followed a couple guys on IG that made materials for scales. Lots of stabilized organic materials

"stabilized" here means cast into acrylic. A little bit of acorn, a lot of epoxy resin.

That is really cool looking, none the less.
