Any other "Mad Men" fans out there? Pipes were shown in two scenes of the season opener last week. The British partner, Lane Pryce (how's that for a British name?) has a nice 12 pipe rack on his desk (all straight billiards) and in another scene, he's smoking on on the coach of his office. I think he is the only pipe smoking character at the moment (one from the earlier seasons is gone).

I'm pretty keen on the show. I'm definitely interested to see where they take the new season.

Oh what hijinks will Don Draper get up to now?

I love Mad Men, just really discovered it so in the last two weeks I've had a Mad Men Marathon, I've watched all four seasons and I'm now up to date with season 5. It's a great show, wonderful character development, that's why you can watch the show and are intrigued even when nothing happens. The characters are so deep, rich and flawed that you feel like you know them intimately. I found this very similar to the characters on the Sopranos, of which Matthew Wiener was a writer hired by David Chase after he read the outline for Mad Men which then sat on the shelf for years until the Sapranos was finished. Plus I just love all the sixty's stuff that brings back so many childhood memories. It makes you wonder sometimes if we actually progressed because that seemed to be a very fun time.
The show has actual brought me back to pipe smoking, I smoked a little in college in the early 90's. I was born in the mid sixties and I remember my dads smoking stand filled with pipes and tobacco and the wonderful smell.
Well I'm new here and looking forward to being part of this forum, have already learned tons.

Watching it as I type this! I think marmal4de had the best definition for it. It really seems like a slow paced show but its really an interesting show.

I love the show. The season opener was excellent. I did notice the pipe rack and the brief moment of pipe smoking. I didn't see last night's yet, but I have it recorded to watch tonight.
I'm monitoring to see if the pipe smoking becomes a little more prevalent, and if so, then I will see if i can score an interview.

Love the Michael Gladis interview very comfortable and laid back. I'd love to see him play Orson Wells (a great Hollywood story if ever there was one). An interview with Jared Harris aka Lane Pryce would be very cool.

The same British actor has been featured prominently on "Fringe" this season. He plays sociopath very well indeed.
