A good many years ago when I lived in Michigan.I had a good friend who liked wrestling. He was just getting started in pipe smoking. He would invite me over to his house to watch these wrestling programs and give him a few tips on pipes and tobacco.Macho was my favorite.I thought he put he put on a great show.I burned holes in more than one shirt while watching him.Got excited I guess. In case someone hasn't heard yet He had a heart attack while driving his car,hit a tree and didn't survive.

Yeah, very sad. I was a big fan too.
I think he went to Heaven to stop that whole "Rapture" thing that was supposed to happen tomorrow.
He died, and put God in a full nelson, for us all.

Truly an icon in my eyes & wrestling. When I first moved stateside from overseas wrestling enamored me on cable. Me an an elderly down the street would even watch it together some. The Macho man's passing is truly a sad one and like you puffy brings back good memories.

The wrestling thing never quite took off here. They tired a few years ago, and a legion of now-not-kids remember the old programs on a Saturday with The Rock and so on. But other than that, as far as I know, we've generally ignored it as a nation. Sad to hear a champion of the sport has died though.

I didn't care for the image he projected. Part of the reason our society is so morally dissipated

is that the media promotes his ilk as a role model. Bad-asses we don't need. Good riddance,

and I hope he's rotting in hell.

With all this stuff about the "rapture", (whatever the heck that is supposed to be), and this poor guy's death, (he & I are the same age), I can't help but contemplate the "Am I ready?" question.
I hope he was.
I'm gonna light up a bowl and contemplate. :)

Color me very surprised to hear someone as intelligent as you say something like that Cortez.
The guy was an acrobat, an interesting voice talent, and he entertained people. You think that qualifies him for the non-stop express to the 9th concentric squared circle?

It's a violent sort of entertainment you're talking about. It's the glorification of an "in your face" attitude.

It's a performance of anger, hostility, and confrontation. IMO it further wounds a society already reeling from

a lack of mutual respect, egocentrism, self importance, and self-indulgence. These are utterly dionysian days for

society, and although he may have been just a symptom, he exploited it. I don't blame Macho Man for society's ills,

but I recognize that he represented one more chink in the armor of civility. In my view he did no good.

Let's have a bowl and think on this, and on why things are going haywire. :puffy:
BTW, I'm a big fan of Mixed Martial Arts and Unlimited Fighting -- arenas were ass really does get kicked.

But the combatants usually come in and leave shaking hands and respecting each other.
