Ever since I smoke a pipe I have noticed a progression in my preference for lunting. While at first I just considered it ridiculous, I evolved to seeing it as a bit uncomfortable, to the point I quite enjoy it. I must say though, there are just some times of the year when lunting is a pain. For example now, around this part of the world it got to be -3 degrees C, dry and a bit windy. Look what that does to my filter:
This is the result of a single bowl, from that very pipe, while lunting in the above mentioned conditions. While a cap may reduce the draft in the bowl and the amount of smoke that gets blown in your mouth, the content of the bowl still smokes at an alarming pace. Since it is fairly cold outside, the bowl doesn't heat that bad, but still - what should have been a half an hour smoke turned into a 10 minute one - hot, ashy, a tad sower even. I hate it when that happens - also whenever there is torid heat outside, I can't stand lunting.
