I've been browsing Lorenzetti pipes and finding them beautiful and not that expensive, but it says "permanent filter".
Can any Lorenzetti owner explain how does this "permanent filter" work?

Sorry, I can’t help with the permanent filter question. I do have a Lorenzetti Billard but it does not have a filter. I bought it marked way down on Black Friday. I loved the wood rings on their shanks. However, the one that I got is not drilled straight and the bit is not inline with the shank. It is still a cool little pipe and has a role when I need an inexpensive and compact pipe.

All Lorenzetti pipes displayed on the website (about 30 models) say "permanent filter" though.
Do you think they might be wrong or something?

The permanent filter they refer to is an insert that goes in the stem. You can remove it, but the airway then becomes much more open. Not really smokeable IMO. I believe you can replace the insert with a 9mm filter if you wish. This is my Constantine shape 24, it smokes very nicely. You may notice mine is a little different. One of the first things I did was take some 600 grit wet dry sandpaper and took that awful glossy finish off :)

I wouldn't fiddle with filter pipes that might require filters or an adaptor option. These can be adapted, or sometimes the filter can be left out. But for new pipe smokers, it's easier not to get into that. It's enough to learn to smoke a no-filter pipe for starters.
