Loose Churchwarden Stem

Hi,
I received my Vauen Auenland Hugg churchwarden pipe the other day and I've had a few bowls with it. I find the fit of the stem to be very loose when the pipe is cold and when it heats up it's nice and tight. Does anyone else have this problem with similar pipes or am I just lucky?

Okay, so I got my Hugg out to check. Have three Auenlands, but anyway, the stem on mine cold isn't terribly loose. Nice snug fit.

Ok thanks I have a suspicion it's the air conditioning in the room may be doing it. I might just warm up the stem in some boiling water and flaring out the end a fraction to tighten it up a bit.

May not have to. Warming it up, then dipping it in cool water can often make it expand without deforming it.

I've never gone from "very loose" to very tight, but smoking a loose fit often firms it up.
