The problem with asbestos is if the fibers become airborne there is no safe human exposure level.

The benefit of asbestos is that it is the best insulator known. It truly is a miraculous product. In nations like Russia where human life is second to utility asbestos is still mined and sold.

One of the reasons the space shuttle Challenger was lost was because the manufacturer of the gaskets was afraid of liability if they used asbestos.

That’s a bit much too caution.

But as a general rule it’s good to expose those who use asbestos to liability for the undeniable dangers of it. There are substitutes.

Contrary to popular belief the United States has still not banned asbestos.

But as Clint Eastwood used to say about it’s use

Do you feel lucky, punk? .:)
