I'm looking to purchase various corn cob pipes for my aromatics; any brand names better than others. I can purchase at my local tobacco shop but it appears they simply have a basket full and thought I would obtain suggestions before in looked online for particular maker.

Yep, what they said. Just look under the bowl for the Missouri Meerschaum sticker. If it's is not there, move along.

+1. Missouri Meerschaum is the only one to consider. After that, shapes are down to personal preference and size wanted. My advice is the $30 grab bag of 10 factory seconds from them directly. If you were buying individually, then I'd consider something with the hardwood plug at the bottom of the bowl like a Diplomat.

Another +1 for Missouri Meerschaum here. I would also add... I have found that I enjoy their unfinished cobs more than the finished ones, so get one of each to see which you like better.

Welcome!
Ditto the unfinished ones.
I think they just smoke cooler and just taste better until you get cake built up in them.
You might also want to look at a Forever Stem. I haven't grabbed any yet myself, but some folks love them.
Besides then your cob can be all purdy an' fancy.

Missouri Meerschaum and nothing else. Avoid Chinese knockoffs. Our sponsors sell the real McCoy. The factory site is corncob pipe.com

+1 ... and I would add that the "Country Gentleman" is a very good size and shape by MM.
I also really like my Washingtons.

Missouri Meerschaum seems to have developed the corn cob pipe market. No one else gets it right

as dependably, or mostly at all. These pipes are made in Washington, Missouri, just west of St. Louis,

and are available online from their own web site and through most online retailers. Walker Briar Works

makes some of the best Forever stems; these will transform the filtered pipes into non-filtered, which

for many of us seems an improvement, and gives you a stem that won't get chewed up as quickly or at

all. I think some of the larger pipes come original with Vulcanite stems. You can get bags of MM seconds,

ten for about $30, all smokeable. Any pipe smoker needs at least several of these. They're light weight,

durable, inexpensive, and smoke as good as nearly any other pipe. Also, they are sold on cardboard

display cards at nearly all pipe shops, tobacco shops, and at many convenience stores throughout the

U.S.

Riccardo Santia makes an "Ultimate Corn Cob," which improvises on the corn cob pipe. They're a bit more expensive than MM, but you may hold on to it a bit longer too.

Just to clarify, Riccardo Santia uses MM to make his Ultimate Corn Cob. However, he replaces the bottom with a briar plug, which answers the longevity question.
