I absolutely hate ham radio forums! Since the internet was born, the worst pricks I ever met were on ham boards. So here is where I will hang my hat for info. Looking to learn CW, and want the best app. I have tried a few times, but always hate the app, or the app doesn't work for me.

Hey ? Biz.
I was an Army Multichannel Communications Equipment Operator, 82 Abn Div. Still a strong 20 wpm Morse, Straight Key but prefer single lever, SKCC is 11775. Your best bet is AA9PW. You’ll find better pricks over here. Welcome. -Jim

I have to put some meat on the smoker now. I am so tired I could fall over. I will talk to you tomorrow about this. I'm really picky about my pricks.

Just curious...have ham radios become more popular recently? I can imagine some people becoming more interested in less mainstream forms of communication, i.e. something that doesn't rely on the internet or a cell phone.

Oh yes. What’s old is new again, just like the resurgence of vinyl records and just so you don’t miss the forest for the trees.... pipe smoking. ☝️?

I operate CW (morse Code) only and get contacts daily. But most operate phone (voice).

Morse Code is still used by pilots to identify beacons but aside from that usage, it’s no longer used professionally. Ham radio is humming with Morse these days and in that regard it’s very much alive and well.

I went to aa9pw. I've used Koch method before. If that's the best way I'll give it a shot again. What speed do you think a person should learn at?

18-20 wpm. The code is an audible language. You do yourself a disservice to listen to it’s characters slower than the median speed of 20 wpm.

Sending Diiiiiiiiiiiiiit - Daaaaaaaa at 5 wpm is not the letter A. “Dit-Dah” sent at 20 wpm is an A.

The letter A rhymes with a Magician’s, “Tah Dah” and is best heard and learned at a normal speed from the start. You wouldn’t want to hear a Magician drag out... “Taaaaaaaaaaah Daaaaaaaaaaaa”.

Most operators can’t listen to slow code. It’s like listening to a record on 33. Boy, I feel old all of a sudden!
