Through the years I have built a collection of tobacco that I enjoy. It is in no way large, but not small and I have a portion of discontinued and "hard to get" blends. I never thought I would sell any of it as I know once it's gone I won't ever get it back and the only Acceptable way for that to happen in my mind would be when I've smoked it. ?.
Do to Covid19 and the closing of the hotel industry in Hawaii " I'm a highrise window cleaner and lost most of my work for 2 years" I have found myself needing to sell off some of my cellar to pay bills?. It hasn't been a enjoyable experience, But one out of necessity. Work is coming back on line slowly and hopefully before I run out of my precious leaf. What are any one else Reasons for tobacco sales. Just wondering?‍♂️ ? ✌

I've never sold any yet. But the ones I'd ever consider selling is the stuff I don't smoke. I only like 4 blends, 2 of which I smoke regularly. I like trying new blends, but am always disappointed.

Another reason to sell is losing the taste for certain blends. I stocked up on English and Balkan blends that I smoke infrequently these day. In part this is because I have to smoke indoors and their room note is less acceptable (to my wife) than virginia blends. But mainly it's because I don't enjoy them as much as I used to. I haven't' sold any yet but am thinking about it.

Have you seen a documentary about fed going after weed growers? Pile them up and just torching it? I'm sure they are just getting high off them pot. Well, I'm not selling my tobacco. I'll go up with it. But, if I have to feed my family, that would be a different story.

My business tanked with covid.. stopped drinking and cut back on cigars. Things have picked up and I've gotten into pipes and have been ordering a ton.

Still exploring what I like - and the cellar is already filling up way faster than I'd like my wife to know.

That said - my assumption is that once I know what I like and don't like, I'll probably trade/sell the stuff I don't care for, but anything I'm enjoying smoking I don't imagine I'd get rid of.

I had a crap ton of cigars when I first got married... times got tight, I couldn't even pay for toilet paper one week - so I sold off my cigar collection for pennies on the dollar :-( - I regret it, but hey, when things pickup, can always reclaim the things I actually care about.

I've sold tins in the past when I determined that I was unlikely to smoke them. I've had seller's remorse on some of them as my tastes changed/expanded. Some McClelland Virginia sales in 2017 come to mind ... I'm now more of a mind to try and trade rather than sell, especially with hard to find or out of production tins on both sides of the trade.

Sure I've sold some. A tin of Krumble Kake can get $250. I got them for less than $15. Love the blend but $250 is a good return. Have had similar experiences with wine. And if heaven forbid I pass the tobacco I have will not be tossed. It's worth too much. Family knows it, and we worked too hard too waste money. Besides, others can enjoy!

I'm becoming similar to this same idea. I am reaching for fewer and fewer blends and buying more of just the same. It reminds of the folks who say their grandpa or father smoked a specific tobacco for many years straight.
